POLICE have revealed tragic Halesowen schoolgirl Christina Edkins died from a single stab wound to the chest.
Detectives still want to speak to passengers on the number nine bus where the murder occurred on Hagley Road West yesterday morning at 7.37am.
There were around 16 people on the bus on the Hagley Road when the Leasowes High School pupil was killed but only about half have so far spoken to police.
Officers are urgently asking theses passengers to contact them, even if they were sitting downstairs on the bus and didn't witness the actual incident.
Det Supt Richard Baker from Force CID said: "We know there are a number of passengers who were on the bus yesterday morning when Christina was attacked while she was sitting upstairs. Some of these passengers were sitting downstairs on the bus and they haven't yet spoken to police.
"They may not even have known what happened but may have vital evidence and it is crucial they contact us as soon as possible on 101."
"Yesterday's events were truly tragic and it's extremely important everyone comes forward and speaks to us. We will also be able to signpost them to professional agencies who can help them come to terms with being witness to such a tragedy "
A 22-year-old man remains in custody this morning in connection with the incident. He was arrested yesterday and is being held on suspicion of murder.
A post mortem has revealed the schoolgirl died from a single stab wound and her family are being supported by specially trained family liaison officers.
