A PASSIONATE car restorer found himself in the spotlight when TV cameras filmed him giving worn out seats in an old Porsche Boxter a new lease of life.

Cradley’s Dave Tedstone was spotted by makers of the Discovery Channel’s Wheelers Dealers at a custom car show.

The former suite upholsterer was filmed restoring the seats at his Auto Retrim workshop at the Cradley Enterprise Centre and screened earlier this month.

A YouTube excerpt showing off his craftsmanship has attracted around 800 views and three jobs have come in as a result of the programme.

Presenter Mick Brewer was so impressed he has brought his own treasured 1967 Ford Mustang for self employed Mr Tedstone to repair and recover the seats.

He said: “I am passionate about cars and I love my job. I work seven days a week from 8am until 4pm and I never get bored.

“It’s nice to see the look on people’s faces when they see the finished job after they’ve left their pride and joy with me.”
