THE UK’s largest recycling plant is currently being built in Oldbury.
The giant Union Road plant will be able to process 350,000 tonnes of waste every year.
Chinook Sciences and European Metal Recycling will run the unique recycling plant which is being built by multinational VINCI Construction UK.
The equipment has been manufactured by Chinook Sciences and will use gasification which converts waste material into the fuel syngas before being used to produce green energy.
Mike Voss, VINCI Construction UK Midlands regional director said: “The plant will make a great difference to recycling infrastructure by enhancing sustainability and productivity.
“We are proud to be part of a scheme which is creating a new way to positively reduce waste.” “The £17m contract started in February 2012 and will be completed early in the New Year.”
