PEOPLE embarking on a New Year fitness regime can take advantage of Dudley Council’s free guided walks this month.

A five-mile stroll along the Limestone Way from Dudley to Sedgley via the limestone hills will set off from Priory Ruins, Priory Park, on Wednesday January 15 at 10am.

The linear walk includes gradients, steps and stiles and for a small fee, there is a bus ride back to Dudley at the end.

People can brush off the cobwebs with a walk at the Wrens Nest Nature Reserve from 10.30am on Sunday January 19.

Participants will discover the importance of the site and find out about its natural history and industrial past.

Councillor Stuart Turner, cabinet member for health and wellbeing, said: “People who are looking to get fit and active in 2014 can really benefit from the varied activities in our green spaces for health programme.”

He added: “I would encourage all our residents to get out there and make the most of what’s going on.”

Prior booking for both walks is essential.
