A SLIMMER from Halesowen who lost seven stone after a GP warned her about being morbidly obese has opened her own club to encourage other people struggling with their weight.

Kerry Hill weighed in at over 20 stone when she visited her Halesowen GP asking for help with her weight in January 2012.

The 28-year-old qualified for a free 12 week course at Slimming World and after following a food optimising plan lost seven stone and six pounds.

She said: “I am a mum of two small boys and I did not want them to have to look after me because I hadn’t looked after myself.

"I went to St Margaret Wells Surgery with the intention of asking for weight loss surgery as I just couldn’t see any other way I had tried every diet under the sun and couldn’t lose any significant weight as on other weight loss plans I was always so hungry."

In March 2012 Kerry attended Michaela Mucklow’s Tuesday morning class at Hasbury Christian Fellowship Church.

She said: “I couldn’t believe how friendly everyone was and I was made to feel at ease straight away, I felt like I would never be able to achieve my dream weight but Michaela explained that at Slimming World you can set your own healthy target and break it down into much smaller chunks”.

By September 2012 Kerry had already lost five stones and entered the five kilometre Halesowen Fun Run.

She added: “I had always struggled to walk up stairs so completing the 5k fun run was a real achievement and I now enjoy running with friends several times a week.

She lost seven stones six pounds in under a year going from a dress size 24 to a 10-12.

She said: “I feel amazing and never in my wildest dreams did I believe these results possible by just eating normal food."

Slimming World chose her to be a finalist in the District’s Woman of the Year competition.

She added: “I was completely shocked and so proud to be told that I was an inspiration to others and very proud of my achievements”.

Kerry is now launching her own class starting Saturday, January 25 at 9.30am at Hasbury Conservative Club, Blackberry Lane.

She said “I cant wait to give people the help and support they need to shed the misery that excess weight can bring, I can’t thank Slimming world and my GP enough they really have saved my life.”
