Silence is golden for Halesowen shopkeeper
5:07pm Tuesday 21st January 2014 in Local
CHATTERBOX sewer Sue Fullwood is hoping she can ‘button it’ for a day at her Halesowen shop to raise money for a cancer support charity.
Friends have offered to step in as her mouth piece and she will have the use of a chalk board to answer customers’ tricky questions during her sponsored silence.
Mrs Fullwood said: “This is going to be very difficult – I do have a reputation for talking a lot.
But she admitted customers at Sue’s Krafty Bits would probably get served quicker in the absence of her chatter during the challenge next Wednesday (January 29).
She has previously abseiled down Banks’s Brewery, cycled across Costa Rica where she also white water rafted, cycled around Lake Manyara, Tanzania, and in Borneo, climbed mount Kinabalu, went scuba diving, white water rafting and cycling.
Her endeavours have raised almost £8,000 for the RNIB, Mencap, Scope and a children's charity supplying equipment for disabled youngsters over three years.
Mrs Fullwood is now keen to raises money and awareness for Oldbury-based Bridges which provides a range of services for cancer sufferers, including transport to treatment sessions, befriending and bereavement counselling.
She has already raised £400 by raffling one of her handmade quilts for the charity and is raffling another quilt to boost the money raised from the silence.
People donating to the cause will also have their names entered into a prize draw with small gifts as a ‘thank you’ for the winners.
