COUNCIL tenants across Dudley will see their rents rise by 1.5 per cent from April.

The rent increase, which was approved by Dudley Council’s cabinet on Wednesday, will mean people living in council homes across the borough will have to pay, on average, an extra £1.22 a week.

Councillor Steve Waltho, Dudley’s cabinet member for housing and community services, said: “I think that’s a very reasonable increase.”

Laundry tokens for use in high rise flats in the borough will also increase from £2.10 to £2.20 per token; and pitch licenses at Oak Lane caravan site in Kingswinford will also rise by 1.5 per cent, along with weekly charges for water at the site.
