A BREAKFAST McMuffin and wrap landed a Halesowen security officer a £300 repair bill when the open exit barrier fell on his car.

Jason Jones believes high winds caused it to fall as he pulled away from the town’s drive thru into Bromsgrove Road.

But the 25-year-old is definitely not “’lovin’ it’ after the global takeaway giant failed to fork out for the damage.

Miraculously, he escaped injury and the glancing blow to his Vauxhall Astra caused scratches rather than dents.

But his bonnet needs respraying and it was only after he contacted the News four days later that McDonald’s said their franchisee would send him her insurance details.

It took Mr Jones, of George Road, two days of phone calls to the Bromsgrove Road outlet and McDonald’s head office before the franchisee rang him.

He said: “She was very aggressive and said a member of the public had put the barrier up and it was not secure, so it wasn’t their fault. But it wasn’t my fault either.”

He then received a letter from head office saying the franchisee would be in touch.

“I rang them again and said I didn’t see any point talking to her again but they said there was no-one else who I could speak to,” he said.

Mr Jones added: “They never mentioned insurance companies and I very grateful to the News that I seem to be getting somewhere at last and of course I’ll make a claim.”

A McDonald’s spokesman said: “Our franchisee is sending Mr Jones details of her insurers. Should he contact them, they will undertake an investigation.”
