A CRADLEY family escaped unhurt after a severe fire broke out in the garage of their detached home.

Fire fighters were called to the property at 3.29am today (Friday February 28), crews from Stourbridge and Cradley attended the incident in Shelton Road.

Two adults and three children were out of the building when fire officers arrived, the garage was completely destroyed and bedrooms above the garage were damaged by fire and smoke.

An investigation has been launched into the cause of the fire.
