INSEPARABLE Cradley couple Bert and Mary Barnsley, who died a week within each other after 70 years of marriage, took their final journey together today (Wednesday).
A joint funeral for the pair was held at Holy Trinity Church where they had tied the knot together on Christmas Day 1943.
The bells of Holy Trinity rang out for the couple's funeral as they could not be rang for their wedding day due to wartime restrictions.
Friends and family gathered for the service at Holy Trinity and then went on to the burial at Rowley Regis Cemetery where they were buried in the same plot.
Funeral director Marcus Adams said: "They were a lovely couple, real salt of the earth people who everyone admired."
Mr Barnsley collapsed and died at home on March 18 and his grieving wife departed seven days later after suffering a suspected heart attack.
