CRASH-strapped Dudley and District MS Society is in urgent need of financial help to try and stay afloat.

Matters came to a head when the group had to abandon its prized pilates class - because it couldn't afford to pay for it.

The group, which has 173 members, meets every Tuesday at the Dingle Community Centre, Madeley Road, Kingswinford.

Set up to help multiple sclerosis sufferers across the borough, many of whom are housebound, the group organises a range of events every Tuesday in addition to meals and outings which take place once a month.

Members also produce their own newsletter and the group runs its own minibuses, manned by volunteers, to transport members.

Branch secretary Sharon Smith said: "The pilates class was excellent and had only just started, but we just couldn't afford to pay for it.

"We're absolutely desperate for funds - but at the moment we don't have anyone who is fundraising on our behalf.

"We're appealing to any local business, or anyone who might be able to help us."

The group is set to receive five computers thanks to Dudley Inner Wheel and Sharon Smith added: "We can't thank them enough, not only for the computers but helping to raise awareness of our group.

"MS attacks the nervous system, but no two sufferers are the same as it affects their balance and co-ordination."

Anyone able to help the group can call Sharon Smith on 07809 637788.
