A TALENTED Halesowen teenage busker is celebrating after supporting megastar Katy Perry at the LG Arena.

Singer songwriter Esther Turner, aged 18, was chosen to support the American popstar after being spotted at an open mic night.

The former Leasowes High School pupil was asked to perform at The Jam House where talent spotters from the LG Arena asked her to support Katy Perry.

Esther said: "It was a wonderful experience to play my songs for Katy Perry's fans as I set the mood for the concert.

"Her fans were lovely and I got lots of fan mail and messages after the performance which has given me lots of confidence to carry on with my music."

She added: "I did not get to meet Katy but just sharing the venue with her was amazing and I have been invited back to support other acts at the LG Arena."

Esther has honed her talent for eight years and now is a familiar face in Birmingham town centre where she has been busking whilst taking a year out from her studies.

She said: "I love busking and it has been a really successful year, I am getting ready to launch my second album Dreams on BBC Introducing this month."

Esther headlined the acoustic set at the Glastonbudget festival in Leicestershire last month and has a host of gigs organised for June including Katy Fitzgerald's in Stourbridge on Thursday, June 5, The Great Malvern Hotel on Friday, June 6 and The Cross, Kinver on Saturday, June 7.
