THOUSANDS of people turned out to support the OH Festival in Old Hill – dubbed by organisers as the best ever.

Glorious weather and a packed afternoon of entertainment on Saturday brought out the crowds to the Spring Meadow Social Club.

Co-organiser Lisa Saunders said Halesowen Road was “rammed” with spectators cheering on the parade featuring military veterans and cadets as the festival paid homage to Our Heroes.

She said: “We have an estimate of 5,000, but I’m sure there were more than that.

“It was absolutely fantastic. The entertainment was great and the bands were brilliant.

“Form the feedback we’ve had, it was the best ever.”

Entertainment included live bands, a funfair, stilt walkers, Keith Lennon impersonator and Del Boy and Uncle Albert look-alikes.

A Chinese dragon added oriental spice to the parade, which also featured the original Ghost Busters car and an Italian Job-themed Mini display.

Mrs Saunders added: “I’d like to thank everyone who took part and came along – and a special mention should go to the army cadets who fetched and carried all day for the stallholders.

The amount raised for the QE Hospital’s Fisher House for recovering injured soldiers and the Variety Club’s children’s charity has yet to be finalised.
