A TRAVEL agency manager in Halesowen is taking a well-earned rest after walking 50 miles from Lizard Point to Land’s End to raise more than £1,000 for charity.

Kerry Jones, branch manager at The Midcounties Co-operative Travel, raised the money for the Alzheimer’s Society by trekking up and down steep coastal paths for three days.

She decided to take up the challenge with friend Lucy Masters after Lucy’s grandmother died as a result of Alzheimer’s and following the diagnosis of another friend’s relative with the condition.

Miss Jones said: “I’d been training for seven months with weekly treks but it didn’t prepare me for the steep, hilly terrain. The beautiful coastal views more than made up for it though.”

She added: “Customers in branch have been incredibly generous - not only with donations, but also just spreading the word.”

After finishing the trek, which involved overnight camping stays, she is now ready for another adventure.
