A FULL committee has been appointed to put plans for a revived Halesowen Carnival back on track.
Chairman Simon Walker, who is spearheading the bid to bring back the event, last held in 1987, said he was “relieved and very pleased” to have a dedicated team of six to organise the event.
Plans had hit a setback when committee personnel quit after an initial furore of interest died down.
But Mr Walker said a treasurer, secretary and a second school liaison officer had now been appointed.
The committee, which also has a health and safety officer, is drawing up plans for a carnival on playingfields in Huntingtree Park next July and is applying for grant aid to cover costs.
It is also planning to run a prince and princess competition through the schools – with candidates having to show they have done something good for their community.
