A BLACK Country mum aims to bring borough businesses and the community together with a new venture inspired by her fundraising efforts to remember her baby daughter.

Kate Dulson lost her two-week old daughter Phoebe in February 2012 to a rare condition known as Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH) which prevents a baby's diaphragm from developing properly.

Since then the former music teacher from Hasbury, Halesowen, has been fundraising for the charity CDH UK, which helped her through the heartache, by staging a host of events including two summer fun days at The Fox at Stourton.

Buoyed by own fundraising efforts, she has used her skills to set up new venture Family Matters Events which aims to support businesses by organising themed marketing events.

She said: "I hope to bring local businesses and the community together by organising a variety of different events ranging from social functions to family fun days. The concept was inspired by previous fundraising efforts which began shortly after Phoebe died."

To keep the tragic tot's memory alive mum-of-two Kate plans to make a donation to CDH UK after every event - the next of which will be a Christmas shopping event at St Thomas's Church Hall, Market Street, Stourbridge, this Saturday (November 22).

Running from 11am to 2pm, the event has a £1 entry fee and will include refreshments and stalls selling seasonal gifts plus a raffle for the charity that remains close to Kate's heart.

A host of other events are also in the pipeline for the future including art and craft exhibitions, pamper evenings, shopping experiences, wedding fayres and a Santa Experience on Saturday December 6, running from 11am to 2pm at 1st Halesowen Scout Hut, Elizabeth Road, Halesowen.
