GOLFERS got in the swing to net much-needed funds for their chosen charity Age UK Dudley.

The ladies section at Hagley Golf and Country Club near Halesowen collected £1,266 after staging several money spinning events.

They obtained the money by holding open competitions, charity days, raffles while receiving donations as well.

Club member Sheila Hollyoak said: "There's only a small number of ladies who play at Hagley Golf and Country Club, in fact we could do with some more. But every year we select a charity which we can champion."

The money will go towards Age UK Dudley's Staysafe Project which offers advice and practical help on preventing accidents within the home.

They also run a Small Tasks Handyperson Scheme where work is done by volunteer handymen who give their time and expertise free of change to help older people who are no longer able to manage essential tasks safely.

The money was presented to Age UK's Amanda Bowdler who co-ordinates the projects.
