ORGANISERS of next Sunday's carol service at Halesowen Town Football Club intend to stage a re-enactment of the First World War Christmas truce.
During the service, a lone piper will herald the appearance of two figures dressed in uniform at either side of the ground who will walk to the middle of the pitch, where they will exchange gifts and play football.
Former Halesowen Town chairman Ron Moseley said: "The figures will be portraying what we believe took place 100 years ago."
The carol service, which used to be an annual event, is being co-ordinated by Hasbury and Short Cross Methodist Churches and a huge crowd is expected for the event which starts at 3pm.
