DELIGHTED family and friends of a "remarkable" Halesowen centenarian celebrated her 100th birthday this week.

Nora Taylor, who has four children, six grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, was surrounded by her loved ones during a party at Halesowen Golf Club on Sunday.

There were plenty of presents and flowers on display at the party and a huge cake but Mrs Taylor's 100th birthday telegram from the Queen took pride of place at the party.

Daughter Linda Bynion said: "Mum has been going on about getting her telegram from the Queen all year and she was delighted to get it through the post.

"She is remarkable for her age and still lives in her own home. We all had a wonderful time at the party and it was great to see all the grandchildren and great grandchildren together, there is another one on the way too."

Mrs Taylor was born in Birmingham and worked in a family business in the Jewellery Quarter before moving to Halesowen to set up a family.
