FIRST time marathon runner Jennifer White was overjoyed to pass the finishing line in her bid to raise money for a life-saving defibrillator for her children’s Halesowen school.
The 41-year-old completed Sunday’s Brighton Marathon in four hours 33 minutes, cheered on by her partner Anthony Armstrong and four children.
Miss White, of Downing Street, said: “I couldn’t walk or talk when I finished, I’ve never known anything like it in my life. I was absolutely exhausted.”
But she had ran the distance and, undaunted, the Warley Woods Pacer, admitted a “kernel” of a desire to run in the London Marathon was already developing.
Miss White, a former song writer and guitarist who used to live in the Sussex seaside town, only started running a year ago, to give herself some “time out” from her hectic family life.
She hopes her efforts will raise money towards a £1,000 defribillator for Newfield Primary School which children Lily, aged nine, Noah, aged eight, and twins Scarlet and Georgia, aged five, attend.
