GROUP tutoring sessions for children struggling with school work are being launched in Cradley Heath.

Mother-of two Lotifa Khatun is hoping to attract primary school-aged children who need extra help, but whose parents cannot afford a private tutor.

Mrs Khatun, a qualified tutor of Coombe Hill, is launching her sessions in Tesco’s community room with a drop in community fun day on Saturday May 2.

With assistance from another qualified tutor, she can accommodate up to 30 children and is offering either an hour of English or maths or a double session covering both subjects.

Mrs Khatun, aged 30, said: “We want to see the children moving forward and will provide tailored learning for each child focusing on their needs.

“There will be regular assessments so parents can see they are making progress and development logs for each child to take home after each session.”

Mrs Khatun’s passion for tutoring has grown from her own experience when she was frustrated by her own son’s lack of progress at school.

After private tuition and lots of help at home he is now exceeding the national standards for an 11-year-old.

The group sessions will cost £6 per hour with a discount for parents wishing to book in for both English and maths.

The fun day will be from 9am until noon. For more information contact Mrs Khatun on 07572602572.
