HISTORIC railings outside St John the Baptist Church have been cleared of ivy and repainted by an army of volunteers in readiness for a Halesowen in Bloom display.
The 1st Halesowen Scouts, Cubs and Beavers, plus many of their parents came to the rescue and removed the overgrown ivy and the railings were then repainted by members of the Zion Christian Centre.
Halesowen in Bloom secretary John Young said the volunteers had done a great job.
An anniversaries scroll will be displayed listing six significant dates in 2015 – 75 years since the Battle of Britain, the centenary of the Women’s Institute, 150 years of the Salvation Army, 200 years since the Battle of Waterloo, 600 years since Agincourt and the signing of the Magna Carta 800 years ago.
