SANDWELL Council is giving residents advice, news and information about everything from roadworks to bin collections by email.

More than 400 people have already signed up to the new email updates service in less than a week.

Topics residents can subscribe to include bins and recycling, schools, jobs, weather and emergency alerts, housing, crime and museums.

And libraries, news, events, roadworks, business and regeneration news, health and leisure and fitness.

Residents can sign up for the email updates on the council website: www.sandwell.gov.uk/emailupdates.

The Leader of Sandwell Council Councillor Darren Cooper said: “This is another great digital way people can keep in touch with the council.

“There are plenty of topics to choose from – you can select them all, or just the ones that interest you.

"We'll be sending out updates on job vacancies, things to do at our parks, museums and libraries, anything affecting bin collections and lots more."

“Your email address will be kept confidential and we won’t bombard you with updates – just important or helpful information and news.”
