A BRAVE Black Country mum whose bucket list wish to meet UB40's lead singer made headlines around the world has lost her battle with cancer.

Nicola Moore's story was seen by millions of people across the globe after Compton Hospice issued an appeal on social media for the 32-year-old terminally ill mum-of-two to meet her musical idol Ali Campbell.

There was a Facebook frenzy after Nicola's picture was posted online with a message telling of her tragic terminal cervical cancer diagnosis and her wish to meet the frontman of the Birmingham reggae band, who duly responded and arranged a visit within 24 hours.

Nicola, who lived in Rowley Regis before being admitted to the hospice, was completely stunned when lead singer Campbell and bandmate Astro walked into Compton Hospice back in April and sat and chatted to her about songwriting and growing up in the Midlands.

She said the visit left her feeling "alive again" and was something she would never forget.

The stars said it had been "an absolute pleasure" to meet Nicola, who had received news that her illness was terminal just five weeks earlier.

Compton Hospice shared a message from Nicola's family on Facebook yesterday (Thursday) confirming their "beautiful daughter" had passed away on June 12.

It read: "Our thanks go to everyone that helped to make Nicola’s wish come true. Nicola was a brave and inspirational girl, she will be sorely missed.”
