POLICE have released CCTV of a burglary in broad daylight, where thieves got away with thousands of pounds worth of jewellery.

The footage shows a man knocking on the door of a property in Portway Road, Rowley Regis on the afternoon of Thursday 30 April.

When there is no reply he is joined by two others and all three, with their faces covered, climb over the rear garden gate and break into the house.

They emerge some time later with a safe containing cash and the jewellery.

Police have also released pictures of the jewellery in the hope that someone may recognise them or have been offered the items for sale.

Investigating officer DC Cheryl Jones said: "The family are devastated at the loss of the jewellery as much of it carries sentimental value.

"We have visited local jewellers and secondhand stores to make them aware should anyone bring the items in to try and sell them."

Anyone who recognises the offenders or who has information which will assist the investigation are being uregd to call DC Jones on 101.
