A NEW Twilight creative writing course is being launched by former Birmingham Poet Laureate Roshan Doug at Halesowen College.

Roshan already teaches English at the college and will be passing on his vast experience to those on the course from September.

He said: “I am very excited to be part of this new course where budding writers can learn how to write for pleasure or publication. I will be sharing my experience as a writer with others and helping my students to develop their creative skills.

“The course is for all age groups - bloggers using all the modern technology or the more traditionalists who prefer pen and paper.”

The former Birmingham Poet Laureate in 2001 is a published poet and his latest book of poetry is called What Light is Light.

His first poetry collection Delusion was published in 1995 which established him on the contemporary British poetry scene.

The writing for pleasure course runs over ten sessions from October 2015 to May 2016 and is for anyone aged over 19 who wants to develop their confidence or start a new career.

The course includes how to get started as a writer, writing poems, short stories and writing for newspapers and other publications.
