ORANISERS are gearing up for the seventh annual OH Festival with a day of fun-packed entertainment in Old Hill.

The event at Spring Meadow on Saturday July 11 will kick off with the street parade at 11.15am from Highgate Street to the Spring Meadow show ground.

A piper and drummers will lead the veterans and cadets in the parade – in honour of Our Heroes, the servicemen and women killed and injured in conflicts abroad.

Italian Job minis, Disney’s popular Frozen character Elsa riding in a horse and carriage, the Pedmore Panthers majorettes and off-road Land Rovers will also join the parade

The community fun day, from 11.45am, will feature a funfair, music festival, stalls and sideshows.

Co-organiser Lisa Saunders said other highlights will include stilt walkers, fire eaters, a Chinese dragon, pony rides, army climbing wall and samba band.

The Royal British Legion Riders will be taking part and there will be a display of unique vehicles.

The Sedgley and Gornal Staffordshire Bull Terrier Ringcraft Club and a parrot rescue group will be there while David Beckham and Gordon Ramsay look-a-likes from Britain’s Got Talent are planning a few surprises for the day.

Headliners at the music festival starting at 12.45pm will include The Commandments, She Will Rock You and Amy Winehouse and Michael Buble tribute acts.

Special guests Rowley councillor Barbara Price, this year’s Sandwell mayor, and deputy mayor Cradley Heath councillor Julie Webb will open the festival.

The proceeds will go to the Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where many of the injured and maimed soldiers are treated and the mayor’s charity Acorns Children’s Hospice.
