A HALESOWEN man who had been accused of attacking a young woman and her mother in a nightspot has had three of the four charges he faced dropped.
It had been alleged Ashley Barton, aged 28, had struck beautician Nicole Hill and her mother Lorraine Hill with a bottle in the town’s Benjamins club, Birmingham Street.
Barton, of Barnswood Close, Colley Gate, had denied two charges of wounding the pair with intent to cause them grievous bodily harm.
He had further denied at Wolverhampton Crown Court two charges of unlawfully wounding the women in an incident in November 2013.
But after legal submissions from Daniel Oscroft, defending, Recorder Julian Taylor cleared Barton on the two charges of wounding with intent.
He further cleared him on a charge of wounding Lorraine Hill and he now faces the one charge of wounding Nicole Hill.
His trial on that charge is continuing in front of a four man - eight woman jury.
