FREE jobs and training advice for young people is on tap every Tuesday at Sandwell Council House in Oldbury as part of a summer drive to get people working.

Sandwell Connexions is offering young people aged 16 to 25 the chance to speak to a variety of apprenticeship and training providers at its One Stop Shop.

Training experts NSPP, LEMA, GTG Training, Landau and Bellis Training will be on hand to advise on a range of occupational careers from construction to engineering and business administration.

Councillor Simon Hackett, cabinet member for Children’s Services, said: “Our Connexions team has lined up a different training company each week to come along and talk about some of the choices available to young people after they leave school."

He added: "They will also help with job applications, writing CVs and interview skills. It is a good opportunity for young people to come along and get expert advice."

Young people can also get free and impartial careers information, advice and guidance from Sandwell Connexions very own personal advisers and the Fire Service will be there too to provide free fire safety advice and free smoke alarms.

All sessions run from 11am-2pm at Sandwell Council House in Freeth Street, Oldbury.

Construction advice is on July 28, engineering and manufacturing on August 4, fire safety advice and the fire service on August 11, motor vehicle and body repair on August 18, training, Basic Skills, vocational Skills and travel training on August 25 and business administration, hotel and catering and customer service advice on August 25.
