AN INSPIRATIONAL Halesowen schoolboy who suffers from a rare strain of epilepsy has raised over £2,000 for charity by completed a sponsored swim.

Izak Guy, aged 11, swam over 3,000m in under two hours at Halesowen Leisure Centre this weekend.

The Lapal Primary School pupil was cheered on by family, friends and his swimming teachers Michelle Ball, Jane Hughes and Kevin Potter.

The £2,076 raised by Izak is going to the charity Young Epilepsy as he suffers from seizures almost every day.

His proud mother Roz Guy said: "His epilepsy renders his body to an exhausted state, and we have to inject him with epilepsy medicine as he suffers in and out of school.

"Throughout his daily personal challenges Izak never ever gives up or let's his epilepsy stop him from aiming high and succeeding."

She added: "He wanted to do this sponsored swim to raise awareness of young epilepsy and raise funds for a charity close to our hearts."

Mrs Guy turned to the internet to raise funds for the charity and is urging more people to donate to the good cause.

She said: "We set up a justgiving fundraising page and in the first month , thanks to the generosity and support of friends and family and swimmers at Halesowen baths, Izak's justgiving page was amongst the top three per cent of fundraisers for the month of October.

"We are extremely proud of his sterling efforts and would like to thank Sue Bray for helping organise this admirable event."
