SANTA will be joining the Mayor of Sandwell in a fun-filled family Christmas lights switch-on in Blackheath this weekend.

Mayor Councillor Barbara Price will officially switch on the lights on Blackheath High Street on Saturday at 6pm.

Councillor Kerrie Carmichael, town lead member for Rowley Regis, said: "We welcome people to come along and get into the festive spirit.

"There will be walkabout performers, charity stalls, a festive market, funfair and live entertainment on stage from 3pm to 7pm. There's plenty of fun for all the family."

There will be live entertainment from St Michael's High School Band, the B65 choir, Spotlight dance and the Salvation Army band, along with performers from Coneygre Performing Arts.

This year’s lights are supported by Blackheath Traders Association, A Better Blackheath Association and Community Volunteers. Road closures are in operation from 12 to 8pm.
