THE former chairman of a Sandwell Cycle Speedway club carried out two sex attacks on a schoolboy nearly 30 years ago, a jury has been told.

Wolverhampton Crown Court was told the offences finally came to light in 2013 when the victim told his partner about the abuse he had suffered at the hands of Peter Dalley.

Samantha Powis, prosecuting, alleged Dalley had committed the crimes against the boy when he was under 16 years of age between 1987 and 1989.

He had bottled up what happened but years later he was able to tell his partner and the police were notified, she told a six man-six woman jury at.

Dalley was arrested and when questioned by officers he agreed there had been times when he was alone with the schoolboy but he stressed there had been no sexual contact whatsoever.

The 60-year-old of Marriot Road, Netherton, has pleaded not guilty to two charges of sexual assault and his trial - expected to end early next week - is continuing.

Dalley was the chairman of the Sandwell Cycle Speedway club which was based at the Tividale Community Centre but it has now disbanded.
