A KIND-HEARTED Halesowen teenager has raised over £6,500 for charity after dedicating her time to help youngsters suffering with mental health issues.

Megan Stevens, aged 17, has auctioned off rugby memorabilia, held cake sales, made wristbands and is preparing to run the Bath half marathon in March.

She said: "I've been fundraising for nearly two years.

"It all started when I was 15 and suffering with anxiety, I was going through a very difficult time which resulted in me leaving mainstream school.

"I just really wanted to do something to help so I set up my webpage to raise money for Young Minds UK, they are a fantastic charity who help support young people and their families."

She added: "There is still such a stigma about mental health and I want that to change. I raise more through donations and online auctions. I'm a huge rugby fan and so I auction off signed rugby kit."

Megan uses her Twitter handle @MegPaigeStevens to raise cash online with the help of several professional rugby players as well as visiting the home of rugby Twickenham.

She said: "We have so far raised £6500, with my ultimate goal being £10,000 and I really need people supporting me so please visit www.justgiving.com/Megan-Stevens2."
