A THRIVING townswomen’s guild in Blackheath is calling on more women to join.

The group, which boasts more than 50 members, meets every fourth Wednesday for speaker meetings and enjoys a packed programme of trips and outings.

The Blackheath ‘M’ Townswomen’s Guild, based at the Central Methodist Church, High Street, Rowley Regis, also holds a craft club.

Its press officer, Carole Potter, said: “We want more people to know about us. I’m sure there are women out there with time on their hands who would enjoy coming along.

“It’s a good way to make more friends and we have lots of interesting speakers and go on a variety of outings.”

The guild’s next meeting is on Wednesday February 24, when the speaker will be June Connaughton, from the Caminul Felix charity, which cares for orphans in Romania, Thailand, Bangladesh and Africa.

Miss Potter added: “Women of all ages are invited and we always make people welcome.”

Anyone interested is invited to go along to the next meeting, from 10.30am until 12.30pm, or any future meetings.
