HADEN Hill House is turning back the clock to 1916 and holding a vintage fair on May Day Bank Holiday.

There will be plenty to do for the family at the Cradley Heath museum including Punch and Judy shows and balloon modelling for youngsters.

Visitors can also step into the Oss Box and make warhorse style horse masks to take home with Cradley Creative or enjoy our garden games out on the lawn as well as craft activities quizzes and trails.

Sandwell Museums manager Jane Hanney said: "Once again we’ll be opening Haden Hall for May Day.

"The hall is a restored late 17th century building semi-detached to the Victorian House which together with our friends group we open up several times each year."

She added: "In recent months volunteers have painted the hall in historic colours and staff and the friends group are in the process of displaying some of the rooms to show the 300 years of the house’s history. Visitors will be able to see a 17th century dining room and kitchen."

In the food marquee there will be traditional village fair goods such as jams, cheeses and fudge to tempt the taste buds as well as traditional side shows.

And there will be live music from Eureka Jazz out in the park playing tunes to sing-a-long to.

Inside the Victorian house you will be able to find information about local soldiers from the First World War and some artefacts associated with that period.

In 1916 Mr Haden Best who built Haden Hill House was still living here with his adopted daughter Emily, while his other adopted daughter Alice lived in part of the Old Hall with her husband and two sons. The often allowed community fairs to be conducted in their grounds.

Our tearoom will be open but you could also being a picnic blanket and your picnic and enjoy the entertainment in the park all afternoon!

The free event is on Bank Holiday Monday 2nd May between 12pm and 4pm.
