HALESOWEN folk will be able to indulge in all things Elizabethan when the parish church of St John's stages its Patronal Festival next weekend
To mark the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death, St John's will be celebrating the reign of Elizabeth I on Saturday June 25.
Adopting the theme "Much to do about Shakespeare", St John's will be treating visitors in the morning to Shakespearean songs, lute and Elizabethan sweets with renaissance recorder music from 10.30am until 11.30am.
Visitors can then enjoy an afternoon of madrigals, Elizabethan dancing and readings from some of Shakespeare's plays and sonnets.
There is also the opportunity for Halesowen residents to discover whether any of their ancestors ever attended St John's Church in Shakespeare's day and explore both the oldest and possibly the most beautiful building in the town at the same time.
