STOURBRIDGE music teachers are uniting for the first time to perform in a summer music concert at St James' Church, Wollaston.

Music for a Summer Night, organised by Local & Live - a Stourbridge-based not for profit group of music enthusiasts - will take place on Saturday June 25.

Teachers set to perform include Anna Downes, head of music at Oldswinford Hospital School, and Tom Pankhurst, head of music at King Edward VI College, plus seven other local music teachers.

Local & Live chairman Graham Smith said: "We are fortunate to have so many talented music teachers in our schools, and this concert will be a great opportunity to hear them perform some wonderful classical music."

The concert, which starts at 7.30pm, will feature a variety of classical ensembles and groups and will include compositions by Beethoven, Handel, Shostakovich, Maurice Emmanuel and Stourbridge-based musician Tony Bridgewater.

Tickets are available on the door, priced £9, and free for anyone under 18 years of age.
