AN inspirational 11-year-old Cradley Heath boy has won a major award after overcoming personal difficulties and transforming his life.

Corngreaves Academy year six pupil Jaeden Kirby was recognised in the Primary Best in Everyone Awards given by United Learning – the multi academy trust which runs the school.

The awards were open to pupils at more than 30 primary schools across the country within the trust with 11 award categories for pupils and staff.

Head of school Sarah Green said: “Jaeden is a truly remarkable young man who we are all so incredibly proud of.

“He has overcome some really difficult personal issues resulting in a complete transformation of his entire life. Jaeden really has been on an inspirational journey.”

The youngster was presented with his award at a ceremony at the House of Lords, hosted by Lord Carey, president of United Learning, followed by a tour of the Houses of Parliament and afternoon tea in the Cholmondeley Rooms.

During the visit to London, the winners and their guests were also treated to a sight-seeing open-top bus tour of the capital.
