SANDWELL residents can sign up for free text alerts about recycling, garden waste and household bin collections provided by Sandwell Council.
The text alerts inform residents of any major disruptions to the service due to poor weather conditions, bank holiday collections, plus other useful information.
To sign up for text alerts and receive up-to-date information of your collection service, just text your postcode to 07860 0192000.
Councillor David Hosell, cabinet member for Highways and Environment said: “Over 10,000 people have already subscribed to our text alert service. "It is a quick and brilliant way to get useful information about recycling, garden waste and household bin collections.
“The texts are completely free of charge and the benefit of having messages sent to a mobile phone means that households can receive the information on the go, and not worry about losing a leaflet or missing a knock at the door.”
