TEN calves were burned alive in a huge barn blaze in a suspected case of arson in Halesowen last night (Sunday).
Firefighters saved over 100 cattle and 12 horses at the farm in Lutley Lane, Hayley Green.
The first calls to the emergency services were at 9.14pm and West Midlands Fire Service crews from Oldbury, Brierley Hill and Haden Cross tackled the blaze throughout the night.
A West Midlands Fire Service spokesman said: "Despite the best efforts of firefighters, sadly ten calves died in this severe fire in a barn in Halesowen last night.
"We sent over 25 firefighters and 5 fire engines to the blaze who worked hard to try to stop the fire from spreading, saving around 100 cattle and 12 horses."
He added: "This incident is being treated as suspected arson, and we’d urge anyone with information that may help West Midlands Police with their investigation to contact them on 101."
