INSPECTORS have graded a Halesowen care home “good” just a year after it was ordered to make improvements.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) had raised fears about the safety of residents at Kiniths House, who have learning disabilities.

The care home was also told it had to do better in leadership, effectiveness and responsiveness - although inspectors rated it as “good” for being caring in their 2015 report.

But after last month’s unannounced inspection, the home in Kiniths Way has been judged “good” in all areas by inspectors who said it was safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.

They found improvements had been made to the management systems relating to medicines that confirmed people had received their medicine safely.

The report said: “Staffing levels had improved to ensure that people were safe and received the care and support that they needed in the way that they preferred.”

New and existing staff were well trained, kind and friendly to the 10 residents and polite and helpful to relatives Quality monitoring and checking processes had been implemented.

Manager Dominic Brinton-Williams said: “I am incredibly happy following our recent inspection from the Care Quality Commission, where our service has been rated as “good”.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the service users, their families and the staff for their full support and outstanding determination to improve our service.

“Every year we complete Quality Assurance questionnaires with our service users, their families and other health care professionals that experience our service, and I am happy to report that we achieved 79.76 per cent in excellence between 2015 and 2016.

“We have begun further strengthening our service here at Kiniths House and we are now working to improve our service further in the quest of achieving “outstanding” at our next inspection.”
