TENNIS ace Jordanne Whiley has been netted to switch on the Christmas lights in her home town of Halesowen.
The Paralympian and three times Wimbledon champion was said to be “over-the-moon” at the chance to perform the duty on Saturday November 19.
Chamber of trade chairman Wayne Edwards said the 24-year-old wheelchair tennis star would be a “great draw” at the switch-on, which he promised would be “bigger and better” than ever.
“We asked Jordanne last year but she was away on a tennis tour and she is absolutely ecstatic that she can make it this year. She’s over-the-moon and so are we,” said Mr Edwards.
He said a “proper” Christmas market was planned for the day as well as a funfair, a packed afternoon of entertainment and the Rotary club’s Santa sleigh.
