FORMER World, Commonwealth, European and Europa Cup champion runner Daniel Caines has been mentoring sports students at Halesowen College.
Daniel, who has competed in the 400m and the 4 x 400m relay, spent a morning with the L1 Sport group at the college and is due to return for a full day in November.
The college is working with the Sky Sports Living for Sport mentoring scheme and Daniel will be helping students with their first project which is to organize a sport charity fundraiser.
Rebecca Morgan, senior tutor at Halesowen College, said: “Daniel was an inspiration to all during his recent visit.
“He shared his story with the students and the challenges he had faced and overcome.
"They have challenged him to a race on his return to College and hope to see how they compare to an Olympian.”
Sky Sports Living for Sport has been running in partnership with the Youth Sport trust since 2003.
The project aims to motivate, inspire and encourage young people in sport.
