HALESOWEN Youth Theatre is holding its first ever show on Saturday, December 10.

The group is putting on a Christmas showcase at the Shenstone Theatre in Halesowen starting at 7pm.

The youth theatre launched in September and the Christmas showcase is the group's first major production.

Ben Pountney, co-founder and co-director of Halesowen Youth Theatre, is looking forward to the show.

He said: “It is a chance for us here at HYT to kick start our youth theatre with a festive bang.

"I came into a youth theatre at the back end of my teenage years and whilst still learning a lot, I know that if I had started between the age of four and 10 I would have learnt so much more.

"I know I would have developed so much more as a performer and as a lover of theatre in general."

He added: "We are a non profit organization so 100 per cent of the £3.50 members pay goes to the youth theatre and towards shows and events that we plan.

"It also helps contribute to different workshops and trips that we are aiming to put in place.

"We also will donate to charity using a portion of the funds we receive from the various performances."

The group meets on Wednesday evenings at Greenhill Centre, Long Lane, from 6.30pm until 7.30pm when there are rehearsals for shows and doing various workshops based around acting, singing and dance.

Tickets for the Christmas showcase are £10 and for more information email us on halesowenyouththeatre@outlook.com or call 07713822499.
