STARTIME Variety is performing its pantomime Sleeping Beauty in Halesowen this month.

2017 is Startime Variety's 50th year and organisers are hoping the pantomime at the Cornbow Hall will be the most successful yet.

The classic tale has been rewritten and produced by 19-year-old Holly Mills whose sister is playing the part of Prince Stephen.

Janette Greenway, publicity officer for Startime Variety, is looking forward to the production, which runs from Wednesday, January 18 until Saturday, January 21.

She said: "This should be a fantastic pantomime for all the family.

"There are a lot of new characters such as Princess Adorabell, Tom Dick and Harry, Mis Chief, truly scrumptious Queen Doorbell and

Ding Dong."

She added: "There will be plenty of lively songs, dancing and comedy in Sleeping Beauty.

"Rehearsals are going fantastic and we are lucky to have such talented cast and crew."

The theatre group is always on the lookout for new members.

Mrs Greenway added: "Startime Variety are always happy to welcome new people.

"Those who would like to join to be on stage, the best time to to come along is when we hold auditions for the next show.

"This happens twice each year – in March for the summer show, and September for the pantomime."

She added: "If you don’t want to wait until the next show, you are welcome to get in touch at any time using our contact form so that we can arrange for you to come along to a rehearsal to meet us and see what we do."

Startime Variety's Sleeping Beauty is at the Cornbow Hall, Halesowen from January 18 until January 21.
