THESPIANS from Halesowen's Mayhem Theatre will be battling it out at the Worcester Theatre Festival this weekend.

The 2017 Worcestershire Theatre Festival of One Act Plays is taking place once again at the Norbury Theatre, Droitwich.

Some of the UK’s leading drama groups compete against each other in the Worcestershire round of the All England Theatre Festival.

12 groups will be competing and perform one-act plays in front of the audience and a professional adjudicator.

The drama groups will compete for various awards including Overall Winner, Best Play, Best Director, Best Actress and Best Actor.

Joanne Tranter, Ruth Cattell and Richard Dellahay will this year be representing Mayhem Theatre Group in the production of The Librarian.

Mark Moran, from Mayhem Theatre, said: "We always look forward to this competition because the standards are so high and because we have done really well here before.

"I am really proud of The Librarian, it was not easy to write but the actors are amazing."

He added: "Each session will feature up to three plays, and you’re welcome to come along to one, some or all the sessions.

"The results will be announced at the end of the evening session on Sunday 5th March."
