WORLD Book Day inspired more than 900 pupils, teachers and staff at Bristnall Hall Academy to dress up as their favourite literary characters.
The Oldbury school gave prizes to the best dressed and also raised hundreds of pounds through holding a readathon.
The money raised will be split between the charities Together For Short Lives, CLIC Sargent for Children with Cancer and Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity.
Bristnall Hall Academy principal Vince Green said: “I’m extremely proud that our students and staff were so enthusiastic and made such a great effort to take part in World Book Day.
"The whole academy had an enjoyable day where pupils shared their interests and inspirations with confidence and creativity."
He added: "We place great importance on our young people having a love of reading and learning and this event was one of many immersive and imaginative learning experiences at Bristnall Hall which make them aspire to be the best they can be.”
Year seven pupil Emmi Willetts, who dressed as Alice in Wonderland’s Mad Hatter, won the prize for best dressed pupil.
