Professional advice about the dangers of alcohol is on hand in a friendly drop-in event at Sandwell Council House.

People are invited to ‘Let’s Talk About Alcohol’ at the council house in Freeth Street, Oldbury, on Monday April 10 between 12-3pm.

Sandwell Public Health is running the event which hopes to focus people’s minds on the health and social risks of excessive drinking and the support available for alcohol misuse.

Community Alcohol Awareness officers work closely with people across the borough to prevent and reduce alcohol harm according to the latest Chief Medical Officer guidance around drinking.

Ansaf Azhar, consultant in public health, said: “In Sandwell we have effective support services for alcohol misuse, however there is a need to focus on prevention and early intervention work as well.

“Our community alcohol awareness officers work closely with people to increase awareness of the latest drinking guidance and help people understand their drinking behaviour and the related health harms.

“The Let’s Talk About Alcohol event is an opportunity for Sandwell residents to meet our officers and find out more about the services and support we offer.”
