Halesowen and Rowley Regis MP James Morris has welcomed Dudley Council's reprieve of Halesowen Leisure Centre.
He said: "I am very pleased to hear of Dudley Council's u-turn on closing Halesowen's Leisure Centre.
"From the very beginning local residents, campaigners, Councillors and myself knew that this was an ill-thought out idea which would have had devastating consequences on our Town's health and wellbeing, and the vibrancy of the High Street."
"The council should now look at plans to invest in the leisure centre so that it is protected for future generations.
"I will be doing everything I can to make sure that Dudley Council are to true to their commitment and keep a close eye on future plans."
