A MAN has been killed today (Monday, May 1) in a suspected hit and run in Halesowen.
Detectives have launched an investigation following the incident, which happened at around 12.15am this morning on Cherry Street and appealed for the driver to come forward.
Police say a dark coloured hatchback struck a 34-year-old pedestrian in the early hours of the morning.
Despite the best efforts of paramedics and medical staff, the man was pronounced dead shortly after.
An investigation is underway to establish what has happened. The road is currently closed while specialist officers examine the scene.
DS Tom Chisholm from Force CID said: We have already spoken to a number of witnesses who were at the scene.
“But we urgently need to speak to anyone who witnessed what happened or has any information who hasn’t yet spoken to us.
"Our thoughts remain with the family of the man who lost his life and specialist officers are supporting them at this difficult time."
Anyone with information is urged to call police on 101.
